As posted by the Philadelphia Inquirer 02/15/08

Gov. Rendell has signed House Bill 1109 into law, resulting in a small license-transaction fee for anglers effective immediately, the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission said yesterday.

The Fish and Boat Commission and the Pennsylvania Game Commission are developing an electronic license-delivery system that will eliminate paper-based licenses for the 2008 fishing year, which began Dec. 1. The system is managed by a private firm, which charges the Fish and Boat Commission a 70-cent fee for each transaction.

The new law allows the commission to recover up to $1 in electronic-processing fees from the license buyer. This means each license will cost the buyer 70 cents in addition to the basic license fee, currently $22 for Pennsylvania residents.

Stuff like this burns me!

The idea of going electronic for ANY system is to save money in overall costs.  Just like the DRPA and the EZ pass scenario 10 years ago he has found a way to make cash on this as well.

The only good thing Rendell has done for the sportman (that I know about) is allocate the money for the new Bradys Lake dam. But then he let them rape the lumber from the proprty. I wonder where that money went? I went for my license (lifetime) in December but they couldn't issure it due to some issues electronically and I needed to go back in January. I did go back in January and now will not need to ever purchase a PA license again. Hope I get my money's worth by living long enough. Saved .70 already.  Probably some friend of Rendell collecting the extra .70/1.00. That's alot of licenses year after year. Highly doubt the cost should be that high if any cost at all. Pop
